Our Projects
WIND
Cedar Creek Wind Energy
Weld County, Colorado
Leeward Renewable Energy’s (LRE) Cedar Creek Wind Energy project is situated on 32,000 acres in Grover, Colorado, and reached commercial operation in 2007. With a nameplate capacity of 301 MW, the project is comprised of 221 Mitsubishi Heavy Industries 1000 1.0 MW wind turbine generators, and 53 GE 1.5 MW wind turbine generators. The project developed and jointly owns a 72–mile generator tie line and interconnects to Xcel Energy’s Public Service Company of Colorado transmission system. PSCo purchases output from the Cedar Creek project under a long–term power purchase agreement.
SOLAR
Mayes County Solar
Mayes County, Oklahoma
Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) is developing three solar energy facilities in Mayes County, Oklahoma near the city of Pryor Creek. The facilities will be located on privately–owned land and will generate a total of approximately 370 megawatts of clean energy.
WIND
AVEP BESS
Kern County, California
Leeward Renewable Energy’s (LRE) Antelope Valley BESS facility in Kern County, California is a 126–megawatt standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) in Kern County, California. The project is located adjacent to LRE’S 100–MW solar and storage Rabbitbrush project and 174–MW solar and storage Chaparral Springs project. The AVEP BESS facility is designed to support the resiliency and reliability of the California electrical grid and will be capable of storing over 500 MWhs of clean power that can be dispatched during peak load times to meet demand. LRE has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Southern California Edison (SCE) to purchase energy from AVEP BESS. Once complete, the facility will be LRE’s first standalone battery energy storage system. Construction of the AVEP BESS facility began in mid–2023, and the project is expected to be operational in 2024.
